Candidate's Resume
Overview
I'm applying for the position of pathology courier advertised on your website. I realise this is a day late but i hope you will consider my application nonetheless.
I graduated from high school in 1979 and began my nursing training at Prince of Wales hospital Randwick. I completed my General nursing certificate in Feb 1982. After that I worked as a nurse for two years at Concord hospital where I worked in Colo-Rectal surgery, Gastro enterology and the Burns unit. I finished work there in 1985. I then worked for medicare for two years because my husband was at university finishing his degree part time. We moved to the Central coast in 1987 and I worked in medical at Gosford hospital for two years. During this time I had my son who is autistic. It became hard to work due to his high needs and we moved to Canberra in 1989. I was able to work casually as a nurse in childcare centres whilst he was at school and did this for several years. I also worked as a teachers aid at the Woden School and Malkara as well as various preschools and primary schools. In 2003 I worked casually in disability support through capital nurses, mainly working in group houses for the disabled. This led to a job at Lake Tuggeranong college which lasted for three years. I left there in 2008 to work for Lead- a group who take disabled people on outings. On one of these outings I was physically assaulted by a scihzophrenic client who was acting badly while his carer was in the toilet. I decided that I had had enough of this type of behaviour which was rife amongst some of the clients and resigned. I have since been semi retired, but still busy.I have volunteered at Calvary hospital for three years, finishing there last year when I started my own business making jewellery. I have had a market stall and supply several shops.
I would however like to do more and think that I would be a good pathology courier as I have an excellent driving record and I have good people skills. I also am good at paying attention to detail, both from being a nurse and a qualified disability support worker as well as being skilled at remembering details. I am hard working, diligent and friendly. I would love to come and work for you. I am available during the week and some weekends.
