Introduction:

I am a passionate leader with experience in dealing with challenging, real life situations. Personable, travelled, and well rounded, I excel at relating to people and encouraging the team dynamic. Education:

I left Takapuna Grammar School in 2002 with an 'A' Bursary and moved to Dunedin for tertiary training.  Educated to the Bachelor level, I graduated (with credit) in 2006 from Otago University with a Degree in Surveying. I then joined the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) in 2007 as an Officer, with key roles in navigation and personnel welfare management.

Achievements:

I have consistently achieved ahead of my peers at every opportunity since leaving school as a prefect. Highlights include being President of the Otago University Surveying Students Association in 2006, being awarded the Navy's Blanchard Leadership award in 2007 and winning a UK Royal Navy work exchange in 2008 (awarded for the highest marks on key professional courses).

Detailed Description:Primarily I am trained as an Officer in the Navy. This training is leadership intensive and results driven. Based on the internationally recognised Blanchard Criteria, the RNZN trains Officers to define aims, plan, coordinate and motivate functional teams to achieve the goal. The training is based on a corporate model and then modified to fit the military environment, so is exportable. The Officer is continually assessed on leadership ability and teamwork as they gain more responsibility.

Secondarily, my key role on Warships is to navigate/drive a warship through threatening environments, monitor margins of safety and risk e.g. continual assessment of flight safety (ship borne helicopter). In this role I am relied upon to add value to information and communicate succinctly. I have been commended for my commitment to this role, which is incredibly challenging, involving extended periods without sleep and high stress levels. This led to my selection to represent the RNZN during a work exchange to the Royal Navy in 2008.

Additionally, I have held roles such as:

Public Relations Coordinator (particularly exciting during the 2010 Pacific Rim deployment to China/USA/CAN, Assistant Operations Officer (Planning & Resource Deconfliction)

Diving Officer: responsible for ship borne divers, training and clearing underwater obstructions/sabotage.

Assistant Unit Security Officer: responsible for day to day running of unit security, planning and implementing training packages and classified document control.

Personnel Vetting Officer: responsible for ensuring personnel are cleared to the appropriate level, and renewed at appropriate intervals.

These duties are undertaken whilst completing my primary tasks detailed above.
