Aaron Schoutens' Resume
| Brisbane, Queensland 4128 Australia |
Overview
I have been a carpenter for 19 years, within this time I have completed my apprenticeship in carpentry/joinery, sub-contracted for 11 years and been a supervisor for 4 years. The majority of this time has been building new homes, mainly medium to large homes. I have also worked in the commercial industry for 4 years working on shopping centre refurbs and service station builds. The 4 years I have worked as a supervisor has been on large new houses around the 1 million mark and large renovations up to 700,000 all of which were finished on time and to the clients satisfaction.
I finished school in 1991, only completing year 11, at the end of that time I was offered an apprenticeship which I accepted gladly. I am also a qualified workplace health and safety officer, have completed a small buisness management course and have my electrical test and tag competency card.
Achievements
I have completed several houses over the years from setting out a vacant block to laying turf, which is quite rewarding, also you end up doing quite alot of extra tasks outside of just carpentry. I have become capable in concreting, machinery operating, gyprocking, tiling, landscaping, plumbing and moderate electrical work. All of which have been very handy with completing renovations, as quite often having to call a tradesman in for a very small job can be quite costly unless you can do it yourself.
One of the biggest achievements was completing a very large complicated 4 storey split level architect designed home on a steep 26 to 38 degree sloping block. I was given 3 datum levels by our surveyors and a set of plans. There was multi tiered cuts to the block for the different floor levels which consisted of varying length steel columns for each level and the steel work continued right through the structure. There was also a large footing, core filled block work and suspended slab structure towards the front of the home with the timber structure tied into it. All on site problems were handled by myself and the architect, the job was completed on time, on budget and with very happy clients.
