I'm Callie.

I went to a conservative, all girls high school deep in the Southern suburbs of Cape Town. While there, I developed a love  for many creative disciplines, including fine art and theater, but most of all, the love of words.

I'm just about to graduate from my 3rd year at Vega Brand Innovation school in Cape Town. I studied copy writing in order to pursue my passion for the written word. Although many students with the same passion might have opted for a journalism or English course, I felt that Copy allows a writer to interchange across many mediums, be it screenplays or short stories. Learning so many different skills has allowed me to discover exactly what I'm capable of, and the things I am absolutely passionate about.

I love blogging, illustration, and photography. I try to spend my free time honing my skills in those areas. I'm love working with people. I love the art music and great movies. I see myself as optimistic, amiable and above all, creatively driven.I believe that the role of any writer, no matter what part of the industry they function in, should be one of integrity and a passion to showcase truth and beauty in the world around us.

I'd love to be a part of that in the world one day.

2007

• I was selected to take part in the MTN High School art awards. I submitted a mixed media piece I had done for my final matric art exam. I ended up being placed fourth in the country.
• I was awarded the Karen Wiese trophy, which is a prize given to a student whom her peers believe has overcome great obstacles in her high school career.

2010

• For my final 3rd year creative development project, I wrote and published a memoir based on the last five years of my life. I am immensely proud of that acheivement.
