De-Anne Mullins' Resume

Perth, Western Australia 6069 Australia

Overview

I started my employment at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital as an Enrolled Nurse.
During this time I successfully fulfilled the requirements to become an Advanced Skilled Enrolled Nurse.
In June, 2003 I qualified as a Registered Nurse. I completed my studies whilst maintaining my employment on G63.
In April, 2004 I commenced working on Short Stay Unit (fromerly known as DO23) whilst continuing to work on G63.  During this time, I have shown the ability to work succesfully across two very different wards, both with patients that have their own specific and very different needs.

Shortly following my graduation as Registered Nurse, I have regularly been required to Co-ordinate night shifts on G63.  This is a highly specialised area, and I have often been required to simultaneously co-ordinate and provide nursing care for acutely ill patients.  This has often been necessary as there have been many occasions when only junior RNs and ENs were available.

Achievements

When I qualified as an Enrolled Nurse, I received the Registered Nurses award for my high achievements during my studies.  This meant that I was the top graduating nurse for that year.

When I qualified as a Registered Nurse, I received a Degree with Distinction.  This meant that I qualified in the top 10% of my intake.

Since that time, I have successfully maintained a career as a Registered Nurse and maintained a stable family life for my two children.

Career History

Jul 2003 - Present

Company name:Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital
Location:Perth, Australia
Industry:Health, Medical & Pharma
Company size:1001-5000 employees

Job Title:Registered Nurse
Job Type:Part-time
Detailed Description:During my time on G63, I have been required to Co-ordinate the ward on many occasions. This has meant that I have had to manage many and varied difficult clinical situations quickly and efficiently whilst maintaining the safety of both the patients and staff I was responsible for. There have been many occasions where I have had to re-allocate nursing staff to accommodate a new patient admission who would be receiving a transplant on my shift, or complex renal or hepatology medical issues that require specialist care on G63. This has required me to make decisions on which would be the most appropriate patient to move from my ward to outlie to another ward. On occasions such as these, it has not been unusual for me to be responsible for up to seven staff members, as well as 30 patients.
As well as being responsible for the staff and patients on G63, I have been required at many times to co-ordinate the care of other dialysis patients elsewhere in the hospital. On many occasions I have been the only staff member rostered on who has the required skills to carry out the task. This has meant that I have had to leave the ward to troubleshoot or perform peritoneal dialysis, at the same time as making sure that my work is completed and the ward and patients are maintained and safe.
As a part of my responsibilites as a senior staff member of the ward, I have also been required to assist in the ongoing education of junior nursing staff or casual staff, due to the complex requirements of the patients.
