Overview
My Education has improved where a change of career has taken place. I've always taken part in community activities in one manner or another. Because of my children's needs I became a Cub Leader in Scouts of which we had 30 children. My position was harder then it looked as I would have to program outings, arrange funding, ensure all programs had the right equipment and naturally ensure each childs needs were looked after.
In the 80's and 90's I ran a local newspaper which I was the proprietor of. Over 10 years I expanded it from Mulgoa to The Oaks and east to Luddenham. In running the paper I learnt the computer, and since then I've learnt many programs. I'd hire people to canvas for advertisers where on appointment I'd visit. The goal of the paper was to be informative, educational and meant to represent the communities needs and functions.
From the paper I was encouraged to join a number of groups that ranged from the Chamber of Commerce to the WaterBoard Sewage Committee. I also became extensively involved in Warragamba Festival. I was the secretary / function organizer and stall organizer. As secretary I had to over see insurances and work closely with Council and Police for the evening activities i.e. dancing in the street.
Achievements
As a mother I'm proud to see all of my children working and caring for their own families. In running the paper which spread over three Councils, I was proud to see groups benefitting by grants that we made them aware of. In Council we brought about the introduction of new Satellite technology that would help farmers and EPA find different land bases including salt areas that needed to be tended to. I was proud of being given acknowledgement and an award from the Mulgoa Tidy Towns committee. And overall seeing a community of small townships come together where each were given grants for their own areas that would benefit the whole community and kept an equilbrium. The paper focused on areas which needed attention whether it was a personal struggle or a business needing assistance I am proud to say we would try to be their for them. I have since moved on and left that area, but, they were areas I had the most fun in.
From the paper I went onto youth work where at the time Minda was youth detention centre in accordance with the Program Officer I brought about sewing activities, displays of dancing for easter etc, and wanted to introduce separate reading classes, I also took four youths to vocational day trips. These were separate to the norm, I was offered administrative role but at the time I was still involved in the paper.
I have gone onto the unrewarding studies of looking at astrology as a tool to treat environment and health problems, whilst trials have been found rewarding they have been used by government departments once they'd be forwarded to Ministers.
In 2010 I achieved the Real Estate Licence which has since changed to Cert. 4 where unfortunately further studies would be required to be the licensee of an Agency, but, now gives me permission to work within a Real Estate Agency.
