Overview

Resourceful community development worker who utilizes creativity, effective communication and teamwork to build strong realtionships both within the work place and the community.

With a deep understanding of issues facing families from low income backgrounds and the ability to work with sensitivity and compassion I feel as though i am able to develop and manage sustainable projects that meet the needs of the clients as well as the needs of the company of which i work in.

Achievements

Within 3 months of working for Sydney University i was promoted from Volunteer to Community Worker. Within 6 months i was given the opportunity to replace my supervisor when she took maternity leave and also the responsibility of independently managing the 'Young Parents' side of the research project.

I've been a panelist for ANZ Bank and the Benevolent Society, discussing the importance of their savings initiative 'The Saver Plus program' and identifying the problems faced by low income families.

Red Cross and ABC produced a small documentary on Young parents. I was fortunate enough to be featured in this segment. I was then asked to become a mentor for young mums.

South Eastern Illawarra Area Health Services (SESIAHS) identified a need to train Health and allied health staff on how to work with young parents. Myself along with three other women were chosen to develop and facilitate workshops within public hospitals. This resulted in the development of a DVD resource and website of which is still being used across the board.
