Initially qualified as a Graduate Surveyor, with Bachelor of Surveying from the Geomatics Department of Newcastle University, I was keen to ensure I made a positive difference wherever I worked. Being proficient in a number a computer languages and arriving into Land Surveying at the adoption of digital technology meant that my career moved quickly into IT systems development. 

I transitioned into Geographic Information Systems through my role in leading a data capture team for the initial Government contracts for the creation of the DCDB (Digital Cadastre Data Base). This allowed me to hone my skills in GIS programming and become a lead developer in the Unix platform system "Genamap".

Following this I then moved with the early adopters, working at Sutherland Council, who required skills for the implementation of a major GIS installation to support a number of innovative business applications. 

An amazing opportunity arrived with the birth of Optus Vision, and as they chose Genamap as the Spatial delivery platform, I was head hunted into the BHP IT team to develop and manage the information system that would support network record knowledge, the green-filedbuild roll-out and the supporting business intelligence.

I have continued to grow through the many changes at Optus, and have recently moved into the role of Group Manager, Business Intelligence and Spatial Development. This role entails strong leadership, with 25 permanent, 5 contract and 70 vendor staff to manage. I have regularly been the champion of new technology and organisational enablement to ensure outcomes can be delivered.

My background and training place me at the leading edge of Business Intelligence, Fibre Network Record Management and Geographic Information Systems as applied to a growing Telco.

Major Thesis at University was based on Terrestrial Photogrammetry to build data models (1987)

Produced innovative scripts and routines to support datacapture for LIC/PSMA (1991)

Introduced Helava platform for Aerial Photography coverage of Sutherland Shire, google maps 10 years early (1993)

Designed and build the "Outside Plant Management System" for Optus Vision, combining the physical network as-built records and serviceable addresses into a information management platform  (1995)

Delivered an automated platform to manage "Dial Before You Dig" enquiries to ensure Fibre Network asset protection for Optus (2001)

Delivered new web based GIS platform using the MapXtreme technology - "GISMO" (2000)

Built the first Australian corporate adoption of Oracle Spatial platform for managing spatial information (2006)

Conceived the introduction of G-NAF as a critical address management strategy across the spatial platforms and business intelligence domain (2006)

Owned the System build, integration & migration program from Bentley Comms (Focus) to SPATIALinfo Net and Web system (2009)

Regional business development - centre of excellence establishment across SingTel Group of Companies, liaise, host and/or visit with AIS Thailand, GLOBE Philippines, TelKomSel Indonesia, Bahti India and InSIng Singapore (2010)
