Overview
Having completed a Bachelor of Business with a Major in Accounting I spent 8 years in public practice managing the financial and taxation affairs of small to medium sized businesses. During this time I gained invaluable experience in applying and refining the knowledge I had gained at university where I focused on business taxation and business law studies as electives.
Prior to my departure from public practice I held the position of senior accountant responsible for the training and management of a team of 7 subordinates. I specialised in clients with more complex affairs combining multiple companies, trusts and self-managed superannuation funds within their structure and reported directly to the firm's owner.
In 2005 I accepted a temporary position with my current employer as administration manager of their relatively small operations. This three month appointment has led to a career of 6 years where I have had an integral role in managing the growth and development of the business. We now generate a multi-million dollar annual turnover and employ up to 250 staff at any given time. In addition to overseeing our finance and estimating departments at head office I provide support to our remote offices and report directly to the CEO. We meet all compliance reporting in-house and rely on our external accountants predominately for reliable and timely advice and for meeting our end of year lodgement obligations.
