Overview

Growing up and attending 6 schools in 10 years has been very influential on my professional career. Mixed with an atypical start to ones career ( I started my own business out of University before going into the corporate life), I believe that the combination of a truly international upbringing and an entrepreneurial spirit has combined to offer me a unique perspective to bring to a business.

In 1996 after finishing university where I studied Communications and majored in Marketing, I spent 18months freelance writing in the automotive and travel industry. During this period a natural affinity for technology and the internet helped blossom a side business helping small businesses with their websites and online marketing into a fully incorporated business looking after Fortune 500 companies within 2 years. I grew Dizzynet Solutions into an 8 person bespoke SEO and SEM firm with clients throughout Europe and North America before relocating to Sydney, Australia for personal reasons.

Shortly after landing in Australia a great opportunity presented itself to me as a Senior Account Manager at Google. Being one of a handful of people that incubated Google's presence in Australia into what it is now with over 450 employees has been a truly memorable experience. During my 6 years at Google I have gone from account management (AdWords) to becoming the first regional Product Specialist (Ads) and for the past 16 months, the head of Online Marketing for Google Enterprise (APAC.)

Achievements

  • Successfully started my own business in 1996 in Toronto, Canada focusing on small and medium businesses and their need to have an online presence. This quickly matured into a full service company that not only provided web services but also specialised in online marketing and analysis. Securing several Fortune 500 companies across North America, the company also expanded into enterprise analytics building its own proprietary online analytics platform. After 7 successful years the company was bought out by a partner and continues to innovate int he online arena today.
  • Joined Google Australia as part of a 8 person startup team to lead the explosive Adwords account management business for the Travel, Retail, and Local industries. Working with flagship customers such as eBay, Flight Centre, Wotif, IHG, Fairfax, Trading Post and more, helped grow the ads business in Australia 6x.
  • Launched the Product Specialist function across Asia Pacific and Latin America in 2007 helping to build and develop a team of 'in country' product experts to help drive product education and awareness amongst advertisers. Built a team of 9 product specialists across 6 countries and received one of Google's highest awards, the APLA Hero Award for going above and beyond my core responsibilities.
  • To date have made a very successful transition into the marketing organisation specifically focusing on the Enterprise business across Asia Pacific. In my current capacity as SMB Marketing Manager my mandate has been to focus on hugely successful and scalable campaigns targeted at small and medium business across the region. Within my first quarter I was awarded a Silver Marketing Award for outstanding contribution to the business. This was followed last quarter by another Silver Marketing Award for continued service well beyond my core job description.
