Overview
I am an Australian mosaic artist, working from OzMosaics Brisbane Studio. I have been working in the field of mosaics for over a decade.
OzMosaics houses a Mosaic Studio Mosaic Supplies Store, an online Store and a Learning Centre.
I teach the art of mosaics to beginners and advanced students. Visiting mosaic artists or artists seeking advice for their projects attend for consultations to accelerate their mosaic skills. I provide mentoring and professional expertise in the art of mosaics and mosaic products.
My mosaic artworks are installed in Australia and overseas and I work closely with clients on bespoke artworks, public and community sector commissions. Small and large scale artworks are detailed in my portfolio. Mosaic art is enduring and captivates audiences; mosaic art provides endless opportunties and I enjoy exploring the mix of materials and pushing the limits, keeping in mind the longevity and appeal of the artworks for future generations.
Working on community projects challenges myself and the participants to consider new ways to apply mosaics as both decorative and useful surfaces. Reusing and recycling materials helps our environment and gives diversity and excitement to the mosaic artworks. Combining old and new products stimulates the senses and provides a never-ending range of texture and artistic alternatives to an historic artform that embraces tradition and contemporary mosaic art practices.
When working on my own artworks I let my imagine fly and excite manufacturers with what can be done with thier products; thinking outside the square. My imagination works overtime; 24/7 and every project provides stimulation whether going solo or collaboration - continual comments are "we love mosaics; the texture, colour makes one very involved with the artwork on many visual and emotional levels - as community and public artform, mosaics are popular in their simplicity of design and materials or amazing structure - from floors to park benches, huge ball sculptures and giant eggs - surfaces and design - unlimited!
A huge collection of mosaic teapots can form a fence decoration and provide a fascination gallery for passers by; A mosaic seating can provide a meeting place that tells a story, the story of a community or special event.
The popularity of mosaics in Parks in Europe provides stimulation for mosaic artworks in Australia - teaching good mosaic practices with emphasis on design and durability means my students are being creative whilst engaging in artforms to beautify their surroundings. Concrete and new light weight substrates provide the perfect canvas for mosaic artworks to be installed indoors, outdoors; on floors, walls, ceilings, underwater and wherever your imagination takes you to the next level!
